Sensory play for improving learning outcomes
I created this course because I found that educators and teachers often felt overwhelmed, stressed, and frustrated by some children's sensory behaviours.
In the work that I do in classrooms, sensory behaviours may include: disengaging from activities, chewing on clothing, refusing to go indoors or outdoors, yelling out, throwing toys, hitting other children, putting objects in to their mouth.
In this course you will learn about the 7 senses that I work with - tactile, auditory, visual, olfactory, gustatory, proprioception, and vestibular.
These terms may seem foreign to you at the moment. But by the end of this course you will know these senses well and you will have strategies for each sensation.
My goal for you throughout this course is to help you see challenging behaviour from a sensory perspective and to observe your classroom with a sensory lens, so that you can reduce meltdowns and stress in your classroom.
